THE PATHWAY TO TRANFORMATION

Habits: The Small Things That Shape Your Future

Habits are behaviors that become automatic through repetition. They often occur without conscious thought, and they account for around 40% of daily actions.

Daniel 6:6 Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever. 7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. 8 Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. 9 Wherefore, King Darius signed the writing and the decree. 10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. 11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

Daniel had a habit of praying where others could see, and he was not breaking his habit even though it was against the law of the time.

1 Timothy 4:7 Stay clear of silly stories that get dressed up as religion. Exercise daily in God - no spiritual flabbiness, please! 8 Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever. 9 You can count on this. Take it to heart.

Small Holy Habits Bring Supernatural Results

  • Habits of prayer lead to peace.

  • Habit of reading God’s Word leads to wisdom and power.

  • Habit of gratitude leads to joy and contentment.

  • Habit of serving leads to promotion in God’s Kingdom.

You sow a thought; you reap an action.

You sow an action, reap a habit.

You sow a habit, reap a lifestyle and your destiny.

Your Future Is Hidden In Your Daily Routine.

·   If you want a different life, start with a different habit.

·   God is not just the God of miracles; He’s the God of consistency.

·    When we do what we can daily, God does what only He can supernaturally.

TRIGGERS

·  When you feel the urge to complain, stop and think of something you are thankful for

·  When you feel the urge to judge someone, stop and pray for them

·  When you feel the urge to quit, stop and consider who is counting on your faithfulness

·   When you feel the urge to tell someone how much you know, stop and listen

Commit to one new holy habit today.

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to be consistent.

  • Start small—daily prayer, daily Scripture, daily praise.

  • You chat daily on social media

  • How many hours are spent on social media, likes, and comments?

  • How about chatting with God the same amount of time

  • Direct messaging with God

FIVE MAIN HABITS TO DEVELOP

Why is it nearly impossible to quit a habit, and you need to replace it instead?

-habits become who we are, what we are/represent, without thinking about it... We just do.

When we notice a bad habit in ourselves it needs to be replaced... Not thinking "I need to get rid of or fix this habit" now that habit also has your focus and most likely will still be, a habit.

If a light bulb is bad, it needs to be changed... We can't just think about the bad bulb, we have to go get a new bulb and put it in place of the bad for the change to take place.

For new life to happen, not just in/for…

Why is it nearly impossible to quit a habit, and you need to replace it instead?

Habits become wired into our brains through repetition, so the behavior becomes automatic, even unconscious. When we try to “quit” a habit, we are really trying to erase a pathway that our mind has already built (think of 13), which is extremely difficult. But when we replace a habit, we redirect that same mental pathway and energy toward something better. Replacement gives our mind and heart a new rhythm to follow. It keeps our thoughts, emotions, and actions from drifting back into old patterns because the space once filled by the old habit is now filled with something holy, life-giving, and intentional.

What new holy…

Great post Melissa! I especially appreciate a couple of statements in your aha, " We often ask God for big breakthroughs, miracles, and transformation, but He is just as much the God of consistency as He is the God of power." and "That realization challenged me to look closely at the habits I practice every day, because they are quietly shaping the destiny I will walk into." I am reminded as I read this part of your post the reason for those "count it all joy moments"..it's to produce a life of consistency or constancy in our walk of faith. God absolutely wants consistency in our life and it really does what you mentioned here..shapes our destiny.

Deliverance and freedom doesn't come from thinking about trying not to sin.   It comes from actively pursuing God and filling one's life with His spirit and Word so that sin has no room.

What new holy habit have you started?

Recognizing habits that lead to disconnection from God, and intentionally reconnecting in moments of stress or pressure.

What was your aha moment in the message?

Habits Determine Direction and direction determines destiny.

Habits build or break your spiritual life.

The future is hidden in the daily routine.

Thank you, Bishop, for this simply but practical message that absolutely anyone can start doing today! I can see that if we will actually do this word, we will be changed.

1.   Why is it nearly impossible to quit a habit, and you need to replace it instead? As Bishop talked about, when we focus on something, that is all we can think about. If we try simply breaking a habit without replacing it with something else, we keep thinking about the habit we don’t want and we all know that whatever we think about consistently, we will do.

2.   What new holy habit have you started? When a negative thought or something I know is a lie of the…

Hi Elder Christy, I love your summary: Holy habits are the pathway to transformation—in other words as I form holy habits those holy habits lead to the Word becoming life in my life. This is the most practical and simple way I have ever heard for the Word to become life in my life,

Absolutely phenomenal word Bishop!

Practical, memorable, and to the point.

Thank you.

1. It’s nearly impossible to quit a habit because they are a conditioned automatic response, often becoming integral to daily life. Just cutting out the habit alone leaves a hole, and a hole really doesn’t ever stay empty. It either fills “naturally” with unwanted things, gets refilled with the thing that was there in the first place, or is a space for something new to begin.

2. The new holy habit I’ve started is when the triggers to complain come, I stop and instead think on or say what I am thankful for. I know it seems like a little thing, but godliness with contentment is great gain…

Hi Amanda, thanks for liking the message. I love the statement: Just cutting out the habit alone leaves a hole, and a hole really doesn’t ever stay empty. It either fills “naturally” with unwanted things, gets refilled with the thing that was there in the first place, or is a space for something new to begin. Yes, this is the opportunity for something new to begin
