I Am Patience

As we relearn these definitions of the fruit of the spirit of God we are adjusting the I and realize it has to become a we.  It's God and I that can produce this in our life.

The yoke of trying to be like God without God's influence is a heavy yolk and that's not the burden that God intended us to carry.

He has instructed us to abide in the vine, pursuing him and him pursuing us producing a relationship where we develop and his character that is seen in our daily life.

This lifestyle is sustainable. We can continue to produce the fruit of the Spirit when we are abiding in the vine staying connected to God.

God is helping us transform into a new wineskin so that we can contain and pour out his spirit to this earth.

The fruit of goodness was demonstrated by the parable Jesus spoke of.  The Good Samaritan, It emulated what he would do: no religious person could save anyone but the one who stopped and invested time and his resources and gave his life was the one who really could save the man on the side of the road.

How do you see the fruit of patience/fortitude?

-for it to be produced, we work for it... BUT cannot MAKE it happen.

-it has to become WHO I am - we can't just turn it on and off - that fuse will blow! And that will cause a setback for those around 😒

-when I let my "patience" work, it will NOT glorify God

What were the three characteristics of goodness?

-giving

-investment of time - giving of time, selfless love for others

How do you see the fruit of patience/fortitude?

I saw patience/fortitude in my life as coloring a color page with a toddler. You take the time to think about the colors, blended the colors, stayed in between the lines, and then your toddler comes and colors on your page instead of theirs. And you can literally feel your heart sink because all the time and work was wasted in a second. That little toddler doesn’t know how much work it took you to color that page because their done coloring their page in a minute. They’re so innocent in time. Then you have a choice to react. Are you going to give up and never color with them again? Or,…

How do you see the fruit of patience/fortitude?

Prior to this message patience was just a "grin and bear it" kind of fruit...but that would be that heavy yoke that Ps. Aaron was speaking about. But patience being fortitude and courage in the midst of adversity is the redefinition of this fruit that we have all needed.

What were the three characteristics of goodness?

Compassion - the activation of goodness.

Giving - the full expression of goodness.

Investment of time - the giving of your life for another.

What part of this word came alive to you? Stay connected, stay connected, stay connected! The branch can not be consumed with producing fruit, it has to focus on being connected. That connection,…

How do you see the fruit of patience/fortitude?

There have been so many moments where I have perceived patience as simply just not loosing one’s cool. Continuing on even when there might be inner complaining or annoyance. Just enduring. What a fleshly view/understanding.I rather like concept of patience as fortitude, because fortitude is what is in you. It’s a result of inner strength that is built and sustained. It can’t be put on, it comes from what is already within. It is the product of connection to the vine. The statement that clings to me is that peace is a requirement for patience. Peace is the companion plant to patience, it helps patience grown without striving.

Excellent statements Amanda, "Pruned once is not pruned forever. It is a continuous cutting back in order to grow. Grow and be pruned back; advance and die more to self." What a great reminder for all of us when we are going through the pruning stage!

  1. How do you see the fruit of patience/fortitude

When I heard the word "fortitude", I heard "strength". (As in the concrete walls of a great "Fort"/"Bunker".) I saw the fruit of Patience as just that, a fruit that is obtained when we actually believe what we are doing is with God's help. If God said it, then I believe it (have faith), then I will stand in it/or do it. And there will be patience because I know I can't do anything without God, or the "person" that built the fortitude in me.

2) What were the three characteristics of goodness?

Compassion - The heart beat of the Father towards others. If or when we don't show others compassion,…
