Serving the Eviction Notice
When things start spiraling in our lives—when chaos, gossip, or division starts "setting up camp" in our homes or hearts—we often feel powerless to stop it. We watch as influences that steal our peace, destroy our joy, and break down our relationships take over, and we wonder: How did this happen?
We often think the enemy’s takeover happens overnight, but it usually begins much smaller. It starts when we allow negativity to interrupt our lives, influence our families, or create isolation in our relationships. If we don’t address these invasions when they are small, we risk moving from simple oppression into much deeper turmoil.
The Two Ways We Handle Darkness
The Bible gives us two models for dealing with the enemy, and the difference between them changes everything.
The Saul Model (Temporary Relief): In 1 Samuel 16:14-23, when King Saul was tormented, David played his harp. The music brought temporary relief, but the spirit always returned. Too often, we do the same—we use temporary distractions, surface-level coping mechanisms, or "play music" to our problems, hoping they will just go away.
The Jesus Reality (Permanent Liberation): When Jesus walked into the synagogue in Capernaum (Mark 1:21-27), He didn't offer temporary relief. He recognized that the synagogue—a sacred space—had been corrupted by darkness. He spoke with absolute, inherent authority: "Be quiet and come out!" Jesus didn't just pause the attack; He brought permanent liberation.

Reclaiming the Mandate
Why did Jesus move with such raw authority? Because He was operating as the "Last Adam," reclaiming the original mandate given to humanity in Genesis 1:28.
God gave us the mandate to "subdue" (in Hebrew, kavash). This isn't a mandate to destroy, but a kingly, protective assignment to bring order out of chaos and enforce God's boundary lines. Where the first Adam stood silent and let the enemy steal the territory, Jesus spoke up and enforced the original mandate.
Taking Your Space Back
We are called to be the protectors of our homes and our hearts. The "Sword of the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:17) isn't just about carrying a Bible; it is the Spirit of God combined with the Word of God, legally engaged to set the captives free.
When we submit to the authority of God, we aren't just trying to survive; we are stepping back into our Genesis assignment.
Ask yourself today: What has the enemy been stealing from you? Your peace? Your family? Your mind?
Submission to God is what gives us our footing. When we align ourselves under His authority, the darkness has no legal right to stay. Declare that the thief’s time is up, practice this authority in your own life, and testify to the Good News so others can experience that same liberation. It’s time to serve the eviction notice and take your space back.
Questions
1. What space is in need of reclaiming in your life.
2. Has there been a way that evil has slipped in but now you see how to take it back.
3. What part of the word came alive to you from this message?

Love this message pastor Aaron!
What space is in need of reclaiming in your life. There is one particular I will mention as I saw this just recently. My emotions in my marriage when my husband may respond or speak to me in a way that isn't exactly how I would want. Life happens, people get tired, and we can get snappy with each other. The thing is I realized just this past week that my emotional response was simply wanting to shut down, not feel anything, act like it didn't matter that I was feeling bothered by how something was said. I had those same feelings happen a couple of weeks before and I thought I had overcome and…
Great message Pastor Aaron...
What space is in need of reclaiming in your life? There are two. Time needs to be redeemed and reclaimed in my life and my reaction/response when I "feel" like it is slipping away or has slipped away.
Has there been a way that evil has slipped in but now you see how to take it back?
Absolutely. Definately saw how the enemy uses my reaction and verbal response at times towards my wife when time has been stolen from me or I allowed it to slip away.
What part of the word came alive to you from this message?
There were a few nuggets I wrote down that came alive in me:
1) Once we…
