Sprouts Spring Forth

Our words have the power to change things around us.

Just as God said, "Let there be light," and there was light, His words had a creative power that changed everything around Him.

He went on to make man in His image and according to His likeness. This means that we share some of the same characteristics and attributes.

What we say is going to cause something to be created. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue," we find this in Proverbs chapter 18:21 and we will be eating of one of those types of fruits.

God has created us and given us dominion over this earth, and the way that we exercise that is through what we say.

In 1 Corinthians chapter 4, we read about praying with the spirit and then praying with understanding. Spirit-led prayer will cause us to declare God's will in this earth.

The story of Lazarus and the interaction Jesus had surrounding his death illustrates the deep trust Jesus had in God. He declared some things, but when He arrived and Lazarus had died, He wept. What He had originally thought would take place had changed, and now only God could bring Lazarus back.

If Jesus could have simply fixed it Himself, He wouldn't have cried or wept. His sorrow demonstrates that there had to be complete trust in the Father for this to take place, and that He, as a human being, had to go through that emotional process.

Now, after that, He said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard my prayer." With that, He gave a command—not quietly or timidly, but with great confidence that what He was about to say would take place—and He declared, "Lazarus, come forth!"

He didn't pray that the sickness would go away or that all the changes that had taken place in his body would be undone. He declared the end result, and all the things that were needed for that to take place fell into obedience and submission to the will of God.

I want my words to be God's words so that they have creative power.

I want to be able to declare those things that need to spring forth and come alive in the world around me. I want to speak with confidence and surety, knowing that the Father has heard me because I've prayed with the spirit and then prayed with understanding.

I don't want to just pray my natural observation, opinion, emotion, or feelings, because there may not be much power in those things. But if I submit to the authority and the spirit of God and pray with Him and with His understanding, my words will declare His will in this earth so that it might take place.

  1. Do you recognize there have been times where you have prayed but never tapped into praying with the spirit of God? How can you adjust your posture of prayer to become powerfully effective?

  2. How did the story of Jesus walking through the process of Lazarus' miracle help you to understand how to work with God?

  3. What part of the Word came alive to you through this message?

Yes, there have definitely been times when I prayed from my own understanding, out of emotion, frustration, or simply habit, without really yielding to the Spirit of God. Those prayers were sincere, but they lacked the power and clarity that come from praying in alignment with God’s will.

To adjust my posture it requires a pause, and surrender. I want to pause long enough to let my heart settle into God’s presence instead of rushing in with my own thoughts. Praying with the Spirit, if that happens…

Yes, certainly. My posture should be one of submission. In the moment. Out of/away from self. Posture of fostered relationship with a history of good communication.

Praying in advance. Being still until it’s time to move. Even when the circumstance is screaming out loud to strive and do something immediately. It’s ok to feel the intensity of it, work through the emotions, and be naked…

Replying to

Love this Nathan, " It’s ok to feel the intensity of it, work through the emotions, and be naked and open before the Father. Trusting Him doesn’t mean we have to hide away and bury our feelings. But our faith in Him and what He says must outweigh those feelings." It has been easy in the past to think if we really believe God then we won't have all the emotions that come with "not seeing" what perhaps we thought we would. Yet, this message changes the perspective to realizing it's a walk of trust and that means even in the times of intense emotions, as you mentioned, we can still trust Him.

Great message Pastor Aaron!

Do you recognize there have been times where you have prayed but never tapped into praying with the spirit of God? How can you adjust your posture of prayer to become powerfully effective? Yes. One of things I can do is shut down my own opinions and emotions about what I am going to pray about and begin with allowing the Spirit of God help me pray, perhaps in another tongue and then with understanding.

How did the story of Jesus walking through the process of Lazarus' miracle help you to understand how to work with God? If God said it, then know matter what it may appear like in the natural, what God said is…

Yes I have prayed but never tapped into praying with the Spirit of God. I am definitely relying and praying with and in the Sprit of God since this message. Results are seeing clearly somethings in my own life that I was unaware of but also seeing for other clearer as well.

This helped me understand what I went through praying for an individual last…
