Compassionate Vision

  • Sep 8
  • 2 min read

Natural vision only happens when we open our eyes and see the world around us. Spiritual vision to see the lost only comes when our heart is moved with the compassion from God's heart to see others beyond ourselves, which is why we need to be born again! Natural blindness and spiritual blindness are dangerous on so many levels. Spiritual blindness will send people to hell while "Christians" who are blind cannot see anything beyond self and need to get born again so they can see and enter into the kingdom. The kingdom of God is about souls and having compassion for lost. God desires for us to bring a harvest of souls to Him.

ree

In Exodus 2:1-10, we encounter the first time the word compassion is used in the Bible. (I encourage everyone to reread these scriptures) When Pharaoh's daughter rescues Moses from the ark, that his mother put him in along the riverside bank so he would not be killed based upon the decree that all Hebrew male babies should be put to, she was moved with compassion after she opened up the ark, and heard the cry of Moses.

Here is what God wanted us to see from this amazing type and shadow of evangelism: "Compassion for souls and for people will cause you to see them in their despair.

Do you just see the circumstance they are in or can you unpack that situation and see the person that is trapped within that circumstance? Unless you open that situation up, you will not hear their cry. You will see the circumstance and have feelings about it, but God wants us to see them, unpack the situation, hear their cry, rescue them, bring them into His house, so they can grow and He can send them out to do the same. Isn’t this the same process He is doing with you?"

Without compassion in your harvest field, there is no power. You are limiting the Holy One of Israel, Psalm 78-34-42. Compassion is Evangelism and Evangelism is compassion. Psalm 145: 1-9. When we are moved with compassion like Jesus, Matthew 9: 35-38, we will see, ascertain what must be done about it, aka their circumstances, and be moved with compassion, aka a gut wrenching cry that you want God to move in their life. Without this vision we are spiritually blind and are good for nothing in the harvest field. Compassion is a byproduct of our relationship with God, 1 Peter 3:8-9 and 1 John 3:16-17. Our Godly compassion needs to be making a difference in people's lives, Jude 1:14-25. If it is not, REPENT and receive your compassionate vision today!

Questions to discuss:

1) Why did you not have compassionate vision for the lost prior to this message, aka limiting the Holy One of Israel in your harvest field?

2) What is compassionate visions answer or response when seeing someone in a circumstance they need rescued from?

3) How is compassion the same as evangelism and evangelism the same as compassion?

4) What were some aha nuggets that is causing this message of Compassionate Vision to become life in your life?

1) Why did you not have compassionate vision for the lost prior to this message, aka limiting the Holy One of Israel in your harvest field?

It’s easy to address just the surface of what’s wrong and selfishly be able to say, “I tried”. I have backed away from unpacking messy situations in people’s lives before because it’s not always a quick fix. Just rescuing the baby out of the reeds doesn’t grow a Moses, but bringing compassionate vision for the lost allows God’s power to come in and do something greater than what I am capable of.  Reengaging compassionate vision this week has been messy, but God has showed up in the messy!

2) What is compassionate vision’s answer…

Melissa your first line in response to question 1 is exactly where many of us have been, "It’s easy to address just the surface of what’s wrong and selfishly be able to say, “I tried”. We can stop right there and feel good that we tried but really when we do that it's more about the task of evangelism and not the heart of it, which is compassion. I think we are all realizing we have been there and don't want to be anymore! Thank you for being honest!

Amazing message Rev Ryan, thank you! This message answered some questions for me that I have been asking the Father.

1) Why did you not have compassionate vision for the lost prior to this message, aka limiting the Holy One of Israel in your harvest field? A couple of different reasons...1. I was so sin and falling short focused in my life--feeling like I was always letting God down that I was unable to receive His love and so I also looked at others and found myself focusing on their sin/short coming. Rarely ever able to open up their circumstances to see them to truly help them. 2. Religiosity-this always ends up being self focused and ego driven-and I lived…

Great post Elder Christy... Thank you for seeing where you were falling short and REPENTED to be able to see beyond self.

Loved your answer to question #2:

"Compassionate Vision sees what they are in need of and moves into action. It does not stand back, but sees a person who needs a Father to come in and take care of them and obeys the instruction of the Father to bring them to an encounter with Him." -- Jesus was moved with compassion He did not just see with compassion. Compassionate vision without action is powerless and still stuck on self. Compassionate vision with action will cause us to harvest.

You caught the heartbeat of the message with this statement…

1) Why did you not have compassionate vision for the lost prior to this message, aka limiting the Holy One of Israel in your harvest field? Hmmm... for some I thought they simply did not want to receive truth that would make them free. Here is an example, like I shared on Sunday, the tithe belongs to God. If someone is having financial challenges and they are not tithers, outside of getting a job, I don't know how God will intervene when they refuse to do his Word, in this example, tithe. It's a non-negotiable blessing. Without it, there is no blessing, not to mention the 12 that come with tithing. I lack compassion when people choose to continue to…

Absolutely great post Rev. Connie.

Thank you for your honest and challenging answer to question #1:

I lack compassion when people choose to continue to do things that jeopardize their promise. When a dialectic is…

1) Why did you not have compassionate vision for the lost prior to this message, aka limiting the Holy One of Israel in your harvest field?

Not sure what to say in the moment.  Their situation sometimes overwhelms me with the challenges they are facing and I find myself without faith to present an alternate path to their situation.

2) What is compassionate visions answer or response when seeing someone in a circumstance they need rescued from?

God, how can I help them? How do you want to show yourself to them?  I am willing to listen long enough to bring an answer from God and and I am willing to help them walk it out.

3) How is compassion…

Thank you Pastor Aaron for this honest and humble post..

Your answer to question #1 is probably in the top 5 of why people do not use or have compassionate vision operating in their life.

"Not sure what to say in the moment.  Their situation sometimes overwhelms me with the challenges they are facing and I find myself without faith to present an alternate path to their situation." - This is why we need the gifts operating in our life because we do not know everything but He does! Keeping ourselves in the love of God and making a difference. All we have to do is share what God says about their situation and help them to see the soluti…

Ego. Many times choosing blind "compassion" vision to feed it. Stopping short, not wanting to get messy with someone. Fearing the mess and/or not having what they need to help them. "Feeling good" that I started a conversation with someone, yet didn't go deeper. Self is a nasty bugger and is not an ingredient for true compassion for another soul.

2) What is compassionate visions answer or response when seeing someone in a circumstance they need rescued from?

Intercept them where they are at. Care enough to unpack, make a space for them to…

Your aha was one of mine too Nathan! We must keep ourselves in the love of God--stay there and not allow any lies of the enemy to come in and cause us to take ourselves out of it. The longer we keep ourselves in His love, the greater relationship we can establish with Him and really experience His compassion rising in us! Great post
