God desires that His people would enter into Rest.
Hebrews 4:8-11, "For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. vs9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. vs10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. vs11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief."
That rest is a reposing down, adobe, rest. We are a house of clay that enter into rest as we put our total confidence and trust, management and control of us in the Lord's hands. We let Him doing the building instead of we trying to "make" ourselves. That will take some labor, as Hebrews 4:11 says. Instead of me re-preaching the message, let us discuss it. Remember that your responses help others get more out of the message then they may have initially. Thank you for giving your time and energy to the Lord in this way....Let's Discuss!
~~God told the Children of Israel that He brought out of Egypt that they would NOT enter His rest. Why? How does this same thing effect your ability to enter His rest?
~~Can you see how disobedience and unbelief go hand and hand? Give an example in your own life if you have one.
~~In Hebrews 4 there were a few different definitions for rest. Which is the one that God is talking about as THAT Rest?
~~How do we labor to enter that rest?
~~Finally, what was your aha, wow, or ouch moment in the message?
1. God told the Children of Israel that He brought out of Egypt that they would NOT enter His rest. Why? How does this same thing effect your ability to enter His rest?
-They struggled to obey because they struggled to believe what God said, which caused them to not be able to enter into His rest and they continued with the struggle. If we don't obey what God said then we simply don't believe what God said, and it will continue to be a struggle.
2. Can you see how disobedience and unbelief go hand and hand? Give an example in your own life if you have one.
-Yes, I see they go hand in hand. When there are…
~~God told the Children of Israel that He brought out of Egypt that they would NOT enter His rest. Why? How does this same thing effect your ability to enter His rest?
The Children of Israel did not enter into His rest because of their disobedience which stemmed from their unbelief. My mind instantly goes to when they all started freaking out because Moses took forever to come back down the mountain - "what if he's dead" "we were brought out here just to die" and on goes the story. Looking at their story of the disobedience it's easy to go "Why couldn't you have just remained calm? Is it really so hard to believe that God will do what…
Just like the children of Israel did not enter into rest because they didn't believe what God had said so don't hindered and fully stop their ability to be obedient to God's instruction and this happened right after a miracle and miraculous deliverance doubt still overwhelm them and stop them from being obedient.
I wrote down the word settled during the message and until a matter is settled it's still in a state that can change it's unresolved there's no piece about it and so until a thing is settled in our mind we have room for doubt there is a space that can alter or change our opinion about it and so as we come back to God and…
God told the Children of Israel that He brought them out of Egypt and that they would NOT enter His rest. Why? How does this same thing affect your ability to enter His rest?
The Israelites didn't enter the promised land (a.k.a rest) because of disobedience, which we learned in this message is simply unbelief. Because if you don't believe, you won't obey. When we don't believe God (His Word, because He and His Word are one), we won't obey, and all of the benefits of obeying get left behind.
Can you see how disobedience and unbelief go hand and hand? Give an example in your own life if you have one. How do we labor to enter that rest?…
God told the Children of Israel that He brought out of Egypt that they would NOT enter His rest. Why? How does this same thing effect your ability to enter His rest? God told the children of Israel they would not enter His rest because they continually were trying to do things their own way. Giving themselves over to idol worship and being disobedient to the commandments that God had given them. This affects our ability to enter His rest because it is a self-thing. We think we know how to direct our lives. We are like a two-year-old, we want to do it ourselves. We have an idea of how it should go but are missing the major component…
