KINGDOM COMPASSION

COMPASSION IN THE TASK

Matthew 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Jesus was about the Task of the Father's will to take the gospel of the kingdom to the world

36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

Jesus didn’t just see people’s problems; He felt them. And that compassion moved Him to act, to serve, and to sacrifice.

37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few;

38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.

Many Christians are about the task without compassion

There are not few laborers in task mode, but few laborers in compassion mode

Pray for laborers with compassion to send to the harvest

Luke 10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

Jesus answers him with the parable of the Samaritan.

He revealed three approaches of religious people then and now.

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION:

  1. Jesus was doing the task, and then He saw and was moved with compassion. How did this understanding impact you?

  2. How does compassion begin in your life?

  3. Which of the three religious people did you relate to and why?

  4. What was your greatest "aha" moment in the message?

Looking forward to our discussion

1# it impacted me in the way of how he didn't just see the problem felt it. It definitely showed him how much he cared. It wasn't just let me see these words and move on but he took the time and he genuinely cared. And the people felt it that's why they were drawn to him.

2# it starts with being connected with God and by seeing the vision. . Seeing people the way that he saw them as individuals. I love the same you brought out it's not about looking at the problem but the individual.

3# it is definitely being a doer! But we'll take it to completion is doing his word completely in ture obedience. Get…

  1. By going out of the way to help others. With the understanding of it's come from the Father. It might be something little. But it's some buddy that would appreciate. For some that knows someone is willing to help them . In need of time.

  2. With Hunters message. Are we hitting the target through our eyes. We should see the target through the Father's eyes and knowing on what the target is. Before we shoot and not miss the target. When we have that one on one relationship with the Father and knowing the Father with what he wants best for us.

  3. The excuse. Before I used to come up with things so wouldn't have to do stuff. But know…

Jesus was doing the task, and then He saw and was moved with compassion. How did this understanding impact you? It reminded me that doing the work alone isn’t enough, it has to come from the Father’s heart. Jesus wasn’t just completing a mission; He was moved by what He saw because He was connected to the heart of God. That kind of compassion shifts everything. It transforms how we see people, not just as projects or problems to solve, but as souls God deeply loves and longs to redeem.

How does compassion begin in your life? It begins in time spent with the Father. Real compassion can’t be manufactured; it comes from His presence. When I’m connected to Him,…

Thank you for this Melissa, it really spoke to me because emotion is something I am not short on--but that does not make it compassion... "It begins in time spent with the Father. Real compassion can’t be manufactured; it comes from His presence. When I’m connected to Him, I start to feel what He feels and see people through His eyes. Without that connection, I can easily operate out of emotion or obligation, but not true compassion. When we spend time with the Father our eyes are open to SEE people how He sees people."

If compassion changed things for Jesus then it will change things for me.  Compassion is a connection to the perspective and heart of the Father.  For us to be moved with compassion we have to have a connection with Father that causes us to feel the way he feels.  Without that we can see a need and want things to be better for other people. It isn't the same connection that God has looking to preserve their eternity.  He sees not just their problem but he sees them as a whole the being that he created that he wants to…

Ps. Aaron,

Your statement concerning how compassion links us in with how God sees people really got me: “He sees not just their problem but he sees them as a whole the being that he created that he wants to save.” You mentioned later in your post about not knowing people according to the flesh but the spirit. And really isn’t that the give away of us “try” to see people instead of being moved with compassion- we see people as their problem and not as a soul that a single seed of a specific life changing word can change everything not just the thing that we can perceive on our own.

Doing all the right things, the good things, the works expected, if done without compassion and seeing the individuals they are just tasks. Yeah good tasks, even necessary tasks, but not “ministry”. Compassion is the driving force, seeing people the way God sees them, seeing them with the eyes of compassion moves us from do the do the to serve and sacrifice.

  • How does compassion begin in your life?

Well, there is nothing I can do to “work it up” that is a definite how compassion doesn’t begin. But it begins with seeing. Seeing people the way God sees them.…

Hi Amanda, The flesh loves the "just tell me the steps to do" and I will do it. But...oh my, the task is not ministry until we are moved with compassion and that takes us to having to wait on God until we get a Word from heaven.
