Title: Child-Like Faith:

Updated: 5 days ago

Trusting His Word

We often overcomplicate the miraculous by demanding to understand how God works, but the Kingdom is accessed by coming to Him like a child and simply trusting His Word.

We laugh at the idea of a $45 "quantum moss smoothie" and reading a 20-page paper just to get healthy, but don't we do the exact same thing with God?

We want to know the who, what, where, when, and how. We want the spiritual mechanics explained, a clear timeline, and all the logic laid out before we ever commit to believing.

But God isn’t looking for our intellectual comprehension of His methods; He’s looking for our childlike confidence in His character.

The Simplicity of Showing Up

"When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: 'He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.'" — Matthew 8:16-17, Mark 1:32-34, Luke 4:40-41 (See also Isaiah 53:4-6)

Look at the scene in Capernaum. The sun sets, the Sabbath ends, and the entire city brings their brokenness straight to Peter’s front door.

Notice what the crowd didn't do. They didn't bring theological debates. They didn't demand an explanation of how the healing was going to metabolize in their physical bodies. They just showed up.

Notice what Jesus did: He drove them out with a word. That's all it took—just His Word. When we come to God, we don't need a complicated formula. We just need to start trusting His Word.

The Kingdom Belongs to the Childlike

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." — Mark 10:14-15

Why children? Because a child doesn’t need to understand the thermodynamics of a combustion engine to trust their father to drive them home. A child simply trusts the driver.

Adults ask: "Do we have enough resources? Is the timing right? What are the odds?" Children just ask: "Is my dad here?"

When we approach God, our faith isn't about ignoring reality; it’s about recognizing that our Father has absolute authority over it. It’s coming with open hands, completely trusting His Word.

The Tragic Barrier of Unbelief

"He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith." — Mark 6:5-6

Contrast Capernaum and Jerusalem with Jesus' own hometown of Nazareth. In Capernaum, the whole city is healed. In Nazareth, Jesus is amazed by their lack of faith, and the miraculous is severely limited.

Why? Because our approach to God deeply affects His influence in our lives.

Revelation 3:20: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in..."

God doesn't kick the door down. He does not force healing, deliverance, or salvation onto a closed mind or a hardened heart. He respects the boundary of our free will. Unbelief builds a wall that grace will not forcibly violate. He is not an invader; He invites us to open the door

Matthew 7:7-8. Ask, seek and knock.

The Legacy of Trust Continues

"As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by... and all of them were healed." — Acts 5:12-16

This wasn't just a Jesus phenomenon; this is how the Kingdom of God operates. After Jesus ascended, the disciples carried this exact same authority.

The multitudes from surrounding cities didn't come because they had it all figured out. They came because they saw the fruit of trusting the Word that the apostles preached. And just like in Capernaum, they were healed. Faith is truly contagious.

Have you analyzed your situation that you talked yourself out of a miracle?

Yes several times. When you struggle with health issues and depression sometimes a miracle seems so far away or you start to see improvements and then it feels like your back at zero again. And I have talked myself out of trying to tell people about our merical Maker father God just the enemy trying to get me farther away from God and me trying to show pea parent ople that God is the ultimate miracle maker.

John, one thing Pastor Aaron had talked about is being able to receive. It is so essential to all of us to be able to receive what out heavenly Father has for us through Jesus Christ. He gave His Son for you John. Jesus laid His life down, was tortured, and nailed to a cross for YOU. That blood He shed was for YOU, so you can have a relationship with the Father right now, today. It's easy to know that in our minds. But truly receiving His love gets passed our heads to our inner most place of believing. I encourage you to begin every day by saying to yourself (out loud so you can hear it)...I am a…

Have you analyzed your situation so much that you’ve talked yourself out of a miracle? Absolutely, no doubt about that at least one time or two or three...I have never considered myself analytical at all; I would think I am more emotional. Yet, the thoughts are there regardless, weighing things out, going through all the things that cause me to come to the conclusion that it just won't happen for me.

How do you see (as a child now?)  How can you restore the child like wonder? I don't have to have so many words, trying to convince the Father to help me. The picture of a child holding their arms up to the Father, speaking a thousand words without…

Loved this statement Elder Christy... " I simply trust Him and lift my arms as it were, knowing He knows exactly what I need and what He needs to do to make it all better. I am asking the Father to restore that childlike wonder in me as I cannot make it happen myself." -- May we all come to Him with our arms wide open lifted up to Him. \o/

I am sure I have whether it was for myself or for someone else.

How do you see (as a child now?)  How can you restore the child like wonder?

I need to take Him at His Word. What He said in His Word and to me personally I just need to believe it.

Restoring my child like wonder is to spend more time with Him and just do what He has told me to do that I know I cannot do in the natural.

How did His Word come alive to you?

It caused me to examine the why, probably not having child like…

I think we can agree that ALL of us have done this at some point, " probably not having child like faith that I have justified as being "responsible". which has stopped some of the promises He gave to me through prophetic words." We desire to be responsible and do things right with the idea of pleasing the Father and yet it can cause us to not be in child-like faith. Thank you for bringing this out for a reminder to all of us that we can take Him at His word and trust Him to lead us--without having to try and figure it all out in the attempt to be responsible.
