Where Is Your Revival--It's in the Mourning (For Our City)

God asked the question, "Where in Your Revival?"--this sent me on a journey in the scriptures and in prayer for the answer to the question God asked ALL of us. I found the answer in Isaiah 61:3.  "To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (this is revival); that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified."

It's in the Mourning we find revival.

Revival--A Spiritual awakening after being in a state of dormancy or stagnation (not moving) and is usually characterized by a renewed appreciation for God's holiness and a renewed passion.

The Mourning where revival is found is over a City of people who do not know God. Their lives showing the separation from God and devastation they are in by being so self focused, sick and medicated, filling their lives with whatever will make them feel better about this world we live in. Often times today people hear that they are forgiven and that Jesus loves them--but they don't hear how un-repented sin causes a disconnect with God and allows the enemy to rule over the person. The goodness of God leads people to repentance. God is looking for a people who will Mourn for those who are lost.

What does it mean to Mourn? It's lament, deep sorrow, a crying out, a wailing. God is a holy God and sin is still not okay with Him. When there is no repentance, there is judgment. It is those who will mourn for the spiritual state of others that God will bring revival to and they are the one He calls Trees of Righteousness, those He plants and uses to bring revival to others.

People's lives are stake. Not only their eternity, but their health, their sanity, their purpose, their livelihood, and even their families. We cannot just walk on by anymore not seeing people. Let us pray that God would crease our hearts to the point that we will mourn for others and see God move in our City as we cry out for the people to be reconciled to God--that true Salvation would come and our Cities would experience revival in people's lives.

Let's Discuss...

Do you need revival?

Have you ever experienced real mourning for others that are not your "family/loved one"?

Will you commit to repenting for not truly mourning for people and allow God to crease your heart and begin to pray for the next 35 days to Revival?

What was your aha, ouch, oh my?

Elder Christy

Do you need revival?

-yes!

-hmm, I'm sure if asked at the time I would have thought yes of course... When in reality I probably only had pity/sadness for them... More in my head than a burning in my heart

-if I don't have revival I can't help someone else get it 🫤

Yes! The past few weeks have been a calling out and reviving of what is worthwhile and spiritual in this congregation and in my own life. I've experienced firsthand the prayers of "but I'm trying God!" when all He has been requiring is for His people to be burdened and mourn because of the affliction/struggle that the people in our city are in.

Yes. I recently had a work friend who told me, "I'm just not ready for that kind of commitment" when it came to making Jesus the Lord of his life, and it broke me. My heart has been in…

Great post Melissa. Thank you for this, "God usually deals harshly with people who refuse to acknowledge Him. He dismisses entire generations and cities. I DON'T WANT THAT FOR OUR CITY!" and this, "I am marking the days, crying out for God to spare our city, to bring the opportunity for deliverance to it's people, and for the dormant believers to arise! That this city may be know as the City of God! A refuge, a place of righteousness and justice."These are all powerful pieces and our City can get there as we repent on their behalf in a cry of mourning. Thank you for seeing this, "You will stop building, raising up, and restoring if the passion isn't built…

Elder Christy, thanks for bringing us EXACTLY what we need! Preparation for revival!

Do you need revival? Yes, I didn't feel like I was dormant. The truth is unless we are consistently pursuing new souls IE lost souls regularly, we are in a stagnant state. We know what happens to stagnant water... it stinks! People need a fresh drink of the goodness of God, if our drink lacks fresh, we are in need of revival!

Have you ever experienced real mourning for others that are not your "family/loved one"? I can't think of any quite honestly. I know I have been prompted to pray for someone after Ps. Kyle preached at Tabernacles a year ago and we were to write…

Great post Rev Connie. Thank you, thank you, for picking up on the appointment! God only appoints, marks, sets in place for a job of being Trees of Righteousness to those who mourn for the people of their city and He has revived. This goes far beyond hoping to bring revival to people, it goes beyond "trying" our best, it goes beyond mere labor but little results. Whom God appoints, He revives, and whom He revives, He plants! Those are the ones that He WILL use to bring revival to others as they are the ones who finally have His heart! I hear His heart in your post as you have said, "GOD, PLEASE DON'T DESTROY THEM!" USE ME TO…

Do you need revival?

Yes. I don't want to keep just doing what I know is right without passion. I need my passion for people to be revived. I think I've gotten caught up in not seeing beyond the annoyances of people instead of seeing them the way God sees them. I never used to be that way, so I need to be revived in that area! I need that Godly heart of compassion back and better than ever! It honestly grieves me that it ever got that way, and it truly is stagnant and brings no glory to God. So, yes I need revival.

Great post Amanda. I so appreciate your response to the first question, " I don't want to keep just doing what I know is right without passion. I need my passion for people to be revived. I think I've gotten caught up in not seeing beyond the annoyances of people instead of seeing them the way God sees them." I think most people are in the same place, having a hard time seeing beyond annoyances. Without passion, the things we do are simply routine or half hearted. People can see when we are doing the "right" thing because it's the right thing or when we are because we are passionate about our Father and about their lives. Thank you for desiring…

Great Word Elder Christy!

1 Yes I definitely need Revival!

2 Yes I have definitely experienced mourning! I mention it credible woman last month. I had this little client that I haven't seen in about 8 months because I was let go from this place. . . When I saw that he died it totally broke my heart and I mourned for him more than I anyone else that passed away. Because I know where his soul was. This experience really hit me harder then anything. . .

3 yes I will truly commit to repenting for not truly mourning. Make time and being intentional. About the youth and children. But not just them but the cry they have.

Great post Stephanie. Your experience with your former client that passed away and you mourned for, knowing the state of his soul when he died, is exactly the kind of mourning that we experience when we really feel the weight of sin on people's lives and how it keeps them separated from God and allows the enemy to come in and destroy their lives. They don't have to be physically dead to be dead.

Thank you for committing to repenting, without it, there is no change.
