Memories - To Arm, To Disarm

We all need help remembering things! Otherwise we wouldn't have come up with so many ways to remind ourselves between apps, calendars, strings around our finger and so on... Remembering and forgetting is mentioned many places in the Word. Even God remembers and forgets things! Praise Him that He remembers us (thinks of us, brings to "top of mind") and forgets our sins when we truly confess and repent!

If you have something you’ve remembered, it’s on your mind. You’re thinking about it. It’s having some kind of effect, one way or another. And it’s likely affecting the actions you’ll take.

If there’s something you’ve forgotten, it’s not on your mind. You’re not thinking about it. It’s having some kind of effect, one way or another. And it’s likely affecting the actions you’ll take.

We're in a war that God declared and we face battles daily. We must be armed and equipped to face it and how much easier is the victory when the enemy is disarmed.

I pray this word helps you consider spiritual warfare in a practical way, so that when you're in the moment of battle in the real life you live you will have victory. May this be an avenue for the Help God promised to come to you.

  • Remember, remind yourself who you are fighting for and why.

  • Remember there is an enemy who's sole purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. To lie and separate.

  • Forget past failures and hurts, cry out for the help that is at the ready from God and move forward!

Tehillim (Psalms) 103:17-18 (CJB) 17 But the mercy of Adonai on those who fear him is from eternity past to eternity future, and his righteousness extends to his children’s children, 18 provided they keep his covenant and remember to follow his precepts.

Philippians 3:12-14 (BSB) 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.

  • What memory will you arm yourself with as a top priority? (use any example from the message or any other promise of God, etc that you can share)

  • Have you identified any memories that you need to disarm? (Anything that has had you trapped or anything that keeps getting brought up to hinder you? Remember... even "good" memories can hold us back at times.)

  • Share any "aha" with the heart to help arm your fellow soldiers in the Army with their mission and to disarm the enemy we face.

1. What memory will you arm yourself with as a top priority? (use any example from the message or any other promise of God, etc that you can share)

- The main thing that keeps coming to my mind that was mentioned in this message was Philippians 4:8-9- "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you." I've never fully thought about…

Wow Rabbi Nate what a great message it definitely got me to evaluate many things personally.

1 memories that I am arming in my life. Being a kingdom of priest. . Mainly for me I know it to be a children's priest. Also it is a puzzling year! The plan and purpose that he is perfecting is going to puzzle us was definitely a another step I didn't see til now.

2 memories that have to be disarmed? One thing that keeps me restless is the lies that I don't have any solid fruit. . . I look at part of my harvest I had a few months ago. What did I do wrong why are they not here now.…

Memories that I am arming in my life:

He who has began a good work in you will complete it

He is making me a fisher of men

It’s for His name sake

Memories that I recognize have to be disarmed are those of past failure. In evangelism, in my call, in being a good and godly mother. Disarmament being something that goes far beyond the head acknowledgment and clinging to what He says which overrides any of those things. Because while people/humans/I may fail, He does not.

  • What memory will you arm yourself with as a top priority? (use any example from the message or any other promise of God, etc that you can share) There are many, like Rev. Connie listed, however I think the top priority is "God is making us fisher's of men as we follow Him". Anytime I get frustrated or feel a little bit like a failure--I'm reminded of this. I simply follow Him and do what He is doing and I will truly become a fisher of men. This is the most important thing. I cannot say that I'm any good at it yet as have not caught a fish--but I am going to continue to follow and do.

Sometimes you don't know how a message is going to fully hit you until you read your notes again. But that is what happened this week. God gave us such a practical word that was for us, and for those, we interact with every day. So thank you Nate for being faithful to deliver this message.

Being in the bunker with the photo, that image just tears me apart. When war is hot, the people on my list and the next generation are the reason I show up. Knowing that there are people that still need and want truth in a very gray world.

Have you identified any memories…

Great post Melissa!!! I love your statement about, "remove the weapons that make memories live ammunition." It made me see that there are certain things in people's lives that in our journey maybe we happen to "step on" accidently and THEY GO OFF! Whew, well that was a mine I clearly didn't see and had I known about it I would have avoided it. After it goes off, I can clearly minster to that individual knowing we must disarm things in people's lives. I remember hearing the voice of the Lord over 10 years ago, I was upset about something someone had done, was doing, ect and He said, "Why do you want to give that person that much …
