You've Outgrown That

As children, we outgrew clothes and toys, moving on to new ones that were more fitting for our age and stage of development. Our spiritual journey is no different. God says that there are things that we have outgrown. I wonder if we are aware that we have outgrown them or are still trying to shrink ourselves to fit in those places we have outgrown.

1 Cor 13:11  When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

No more idle talk; you've outgrown that. That child talk is simply not impressive, and it becomes difficult to discern the believer from the unbeliever. Be careful how you think. Your life is shaped by your thoughts. Shed the old and embrace the new! When I became mature, I put away childish things.

2 Kings 6:1-2  And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us. 2 Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make there a place where we may dwell.” NKJV

The place you've been has become too small; you've outgrown that. You've outgrown small mindsets, small dreams, and small goals. You've outgrown the small stuff! Jabez said, enlarge my territory! I say expand my influence, stretch my imagination!

The spies sent to Canaan returned with an evil report. You've outgrown an evil report! Period! You've outgrown limiting beliefs, destructive habits, and comfort zones. Since you've outgrown those things, it's time to grow into new things like a sign that cannot be missed. A sign that causes people to say, "I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes, I saw the sign." You are that sign that will open up people's eyes.

I heard the Lord say three things:

  • You've outgrown that.

  • I love you, you're perfect, now change!

  • Break the silence.

Let us shed the old and embrace the growth into this new place:

  1. What do you need to shed to be in a position to embrace?

  2. Can you embrace, "I come to you in the name of the Lord?"

  3. Elisha used a stick, and David used a stick. What is your "stick?"

  4. Do you see yourself as a grasshopper or a sign? Please explain.

In summary, I say to you, "Arise, you are anointed, you're the sign!"

There is a new life ahead. The Sign says... Caution!!! You may be unrecognizable!
